Injury Update: Nico Terol out of hospital

 In News

After further scans and a visit from the traumatologist, Nico Terol was declared in good enough shape and making excellent progress to be discharged from hospital.

The fractures of the vertebrae are stable, but the Aspar rider has to wear some supporting medical tape for the next days. According to the medic in charge, Dr. Esteban, Nico will have some constant pain during the next two to three weeks, so he’ll have to be taking pain killers during the recovery process.

Essentially Terol’s injuries are not too severe, but he will have to be x-rayed every 48 to 72 hours to monitor the progress of the pulmonary contusion. After his discharge Nico will rest today at his home and then start training with a physiotherapist starting tomorrow, to speed up his recovery. As of now his participation in the German GP at Sachsenring is still in doubt.

“Although they have treated me wonderfully at the Catalunya General Hospital, I was keen on leaving there and go back home. Today I took my first steps and when I walk I feel some pain in my chest. It hurts quite a lot, but I am motivated, I just want to start working with the physiotherapist to get better. I am going to do what’s necessary to be back in Germany. It’s still a little early to say, because I’m still healing, but my goal is to work on my recovery and to see how my body respons. To be honest that crash was a shame, because I enjoyed riding the whole race and I think I had the chance to get on the podium. I had a fast pace and I lead the group for most of the time.”

We wish Nico all the best for his recovery and hope to see him again at Sachsenring!
