Third and fourth for Tuenti Derbi Team in Indianapolis

 In News

Pol Espargaró scored his 8th podium in ten races at the Indy GP this weekend and is now third in the championship, only one point behind Nico Terol in second and five pointes behind behind Marquez. The Tuenti Derbi rider finished the US race in third after a difficult weekend while his teammate Efrén Vázquez finished fourth, scoring his second best result of the season and good amount of points. Pol Espargaró was not able to follow the rhythm of the front guys with grid problems of his Derbi, but he secured a podium position and profited from the crash of Marc Marquez to reduce the championship gap to only five points which had been 26 points only two races agoo. Efren on the other hand has returned to the fastest riders and managed to take a good result home this time, making up for his crash cause by Tito Rabat two weeks ago in Brno.
The next GP will already take place this weekend at Misano

3. POL ESPARGARÓ
“We finished a very complicated weekend with a podium spot and I think we have to be satisfied with this result. We got away with a black eye, because the bike slid around so much and I almost crashed three or four times. When I saw Marquez on the ground I tried to focus to finish on the podium and take as many points as possible since I wasn’t able to fight for the victory and it was better to concentrate on the championship. Now it’s like we return to start a new championship fight and we will do it in Misano, a circuit which needs to bring me some joy after the incident last year with Iannone.”

4. EFRÉN VÁZQUEZ
“I made a good start and got with the lead group, but after a while I slipped down the order and it was impossible for me to join them again. I was convinced I could fight for the podium, but in the race my pace has been slightly slower than what I expected. Despite all the problems, including the break of the gearbox yesterday which robbed me of the free practice, we finished in fourth position and I must be happy with this after the bad luck we’ve had so far. I will definitely take some confidence from this and aim to do better in the second half of the season.
