Espargaro and Vazquez happy with first run at Misano

 In News

Pol Espargaró posted the third fastest laptime in the first practice of the San Marino Grand Prix at Misano, completing the trio with Nico Terol and Marc Márquez, able to run inside 1.44 laptimes. Efrén Vázquez, on the other hand, has followed them very closely and with the fourth fastest laptime is yet another rider aiming for a podium position this weekend. Both Tuenti Derbi Racing riders were very constant during the session, with the man from Bilbao being on top of the standings for some time and the Catalan boy reducing his laptimes all the time until he arrived at the pace of his rivals fighting for the championship.

3. POL ESPARGARÓ, 1.44.706
“We are ahead from the first session onwards and this is positive, as much for the setting of the bike as for my confidence ahead of the race. The second part of the circuit is very difficult for me, I lose almost all the time there that is keeping me behind the first position. In the first and third sector I’m riding very well and I also have a bit more margin for improvement left in the fourth sector. I think we’re on a good way, mainly because we don’t have the problems here which we weren’t able to solve all weekend at Indianapolis.”

4. EFRÉN VÁZQUEZ, 1.45.007
“I am satisfied with how this first practice has gone, because I’ve been comfortable on the bike and I was already going 0.2s faster than last year. I feel strong and confident after the fourth place in Indianapolis and I also like Misano where I’ve already gone fast last year in the practice. I think we’re working on a good level and we can get a good result here. And if it’s possible to step up and help Pol with his fight for the championship I will be there, because this would be good for the team.”
