Another sensational day of racing could be seen at Valencia this weekend during the penultimate round of the Spanish Championship. 15.000 spectators watched the fights for the 125cc and Moto2 crowns live, both battles have been delayed until the final race in Jerez next weekend.

In the 125cc class, Portuguese rider Miguel Oliveira cruised to a comfortable victory which brought him five points closer to Maverick Viñales, who finished second. Viñales made a great start from the second row of the grid and quickly took over first place, trying to open up a gap to Oliveira who showed his amazing rhythm already in practice and qualifying. But the Portuguese, who rode the Aprilia RSA with which he will compete in the world championship next year, closed the distance to Maverick and after passing the Spaniard he opened a gap of five seconds which he then managed to keep until the finish line, claiming his third victory of the season. He is now only seven points behind championship leader Viñales with only one race to go. Third was Alex Rins who still has a mathematical chance to win the title, but wasn’t able to get into the fight with his two rivals this time. The title now will be decided next weekend in Jerez.

In the Moto2 class Carmelo Morales already has one hand on the crown after his fantastic victory in Valencia. It might have been the most exciting race of the season with a group fighting for the win, consisting of Morales, a highly motivated Axel Pons who lead for most of the race and Román Ramos who is having a great end to the season. Behind the first three another group with Forés, Torres, Coghlan and Rivas was fighting for the positions. Pons dictated the pace until the last lap when Morales passed him with a bold move which handed him the victory and a 21-points lead in the championship ahead of Kev Coghlan who only finished fifth. Morales now has all jokers in his hand for the final race of the season in Jerez next weekend.
