The first Moto2 race of the 2011 season ended with mixed feelings for the QMMF Racing Team. While Qatari Mishel Al Naimi crashed in the first lap in front of his home crowd after touching with Colombian Santiago Hernández, his Spanish teammate Ricky Cardús ended in a well-deserved 17th place.

Ricky Cardús – 17 º
“I started well, with a good pace and the desire to do well. But it was hard to maintain a high rhythm. It is a fast track with a long straight and you need to keep a lot of slipstream. I lost touch with the guys in front of me and couldn’t move up which frustrated me a lot. We must work on top speed and aerodynamics if we want better positions. Of course 17th not bad, but I am a rider and a rider just wants to win.”
