eni confirmed as Moto3 fuel and lubricant supplier

 In Moto3, News

Italian multinational oil and gas company eni has been announced as the sole official fuel and lubricant provider for the new Moto3 class, which will replace the current 125cc category from 2012.

eni, currently the sole official fuel and lubricant provider for the Moto2 category, already agreed with Dorna to renew this partnership until at least 2014.

The new Moto3 announcement comes during the weekend of the eni Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland, for which the company is also the current title sponsor.

Dorna Sports S.L. CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta said: “It is fantastic news to announce that eni will be the sole official fuel and lubricant provider for the new Moto3 category, which will in turn be able to benefit from the company’s vast experience in the World Championship and at the highest level. Moto3 was created with entertainment in mind, as was Moto2, and the guarantee of attractive and exciting races. eni knows exactly how to bring all its experience, obtained from many years of working in motorsport, to the World Championship. The most positive aspect of this news is that eni has agreed with Dorna to continue as the sole official provider of fuel and lubricant for the Moto2 class until 2014, which guarantees that the evolution of this category will continue to have a clear and onward progression. With these two agreements and also being the title sponsor of the German Grand Prix, eni underlines and consolidates its status as one of the most committed brands in MotoGP.”

Claudio Calabresi, Executive Vice President Wholesale eni, said: “We are proud that the organisers and teams of MotoGP greatly appreciate the technical partnership we have developed since the start of the Moto2 category, and which has led to us being the chosen fuel and lubricant supplier for the new Moto3 class. eni’s participation in motorcycle racing helps to develop fuel and lubricants in line with the latest technology, thus allowing us to deliver such advancements to the wider marketplace even quicker for our customers. I believe our experience in Moto2 was a crucial factor in the commercialisation in 2010 and 2011 of our new premium 100 octane fuel and two co-branded lubricants; eni i-Ride MotoGP and eni i-Ride Moto2.”
