Espargaro shows excellent start at Motegi with best practice result of the season

Pol Espargaro has topped his best practice result of the season at the Twin Ring Motegi, finishing the day with fifth-fastest time, improving on his sixth positions in Mugello (Italy) and Silverstone (Great Britain). The HP Tuenti Racing rider has been inside the top ten all throughout the first day, despite being affected by jet-lag more than expected. His result makes him the fastest Spaniard of the day, being only a few tenths of a second off the provisional front row for the Grand Prix of Japan. Polyccio felt comfortable on his bike from the first minutes and gradually improved his performance, which gives him and the team a good dose of confidence for the rest of the weekend.

“We started the Grand Prix of Japan on the right foot and I’m happy with how things have gone in this first outing. At all times I was pretty comfortable on the bike and I have stayed within the Top 10, finishing fifth and very close to the front row. We tested different types of tyres and I have a good dry setup, so I’m less worried than on other occasions if tomorrow the forecasts might be right and it starts raining. Physically I am not 100% because this time the jet-lag affects me more than the others. Tomorrow I hope to continue the progress and to be prepared for the race in good form.”
