Moto3 riders continue with busy schedule in Valencia

Moto3 pre-season testing at the Ricardo Tormo circuit in Valencia continued with teams making the most of slightly warmer temperatures during the second day of their first test of 2012.

Sunshine and slightly higher temperatures than Wednesday gave the teams and riders the opportunity to get through a busy test schedule at Valencia today, with Moto3 riders making up to 56 laps.

Sandro Cortese (Red Bull Kent and Webb with big improvements on second day of testingKTM Ajo) reported the fastest time again of the field, a 1’41.3 best time and an improvement of three tenths over Wednesdays top time. Alberto Moncayo followed just one tenth behind the German.

Briton Danny Kent was two-tenths behind his Red Bull KTM Ajo teammate Cortese to rank third, while one of the seasons favorites in the new category of Moto3, Hector Faubel, finished fourth, four-tenths off Cortese and seven tenths quicker than his best effort yesterday.

The rest of the field had positive reactions to their second day of testing, including Repsol’s Álex Márquez, Miguel Oliveira and Maverick Viñales, though Márquez suffered a small crash caused by the cold track surface early in the day, his second in two days.

Riding for Team Gresini was young rookie Niccolò Antonelli, who after yesterday’s first shakedown for the youngster racked up 56 laps on his Honda with an encouraging lap time of 1’44.1 to rank him 11th in the field.
