Marc Marquez Blog, Portugal: A perfect weekend

 In Blog, Moto2, News

Hi everyone!

It’s a pleasure to get down to writing the blog after such a successful weekend as the one in Portugal. The truth of the matter is that victory in Estoril has been the icing on the cake in two fantastic and very intense races. Before anything else, I would like to express my most heartfelt thanks to the team for all their work. These triumphs are also theirs, because they’ve been perfect and I had a very competitive bike thanks to them.

As I told you, these two weeks have been very intense as far as work is concerned, and we knew we weren’t going to get any results without making an effort. On Saturday we gained a very important pole, although we are already aware of the fact that it’s very difficult to get away from the pack in this category and that you have to fight in each round to be among the first positions.

Many of you will be wondering how I experienced the final turn with Pol, and I can tell you the truth: I think it was as exciting as I suppose you all found it on the circuit or TV. It was very exciting to be battling it out with him for victory, and I finally had the good fortune to win.

It was important to win in order to remain at the top of the classification, although this is only the beginning and we know we have to carry on working hard if we want to continue getting these results. We know we can’t make any mistakes, because the competition is tough in every race.

I was thrilled to be able to mount the podium with my chief mechanic, Santi Hernández, and spray him with cava. He’s a crack! I would like to thank all the fans for the welcome and support they gave on the circuit – it’s been an amazing weekend.

I returned home today to rest and recharge my batteries, although we have to start training already for Le Mans almost straight away. By the way, I would also like to congratulate my brother Alex, who managed to score in Moto3 – that will be great for him with a view to gaining experience.

See you next week!

All the best
