The CEV Buckler is synonymous with excitement, development, competition and uncertainty. In a competition where the race winners aren’t decided until the chequered flag, it’s no wonder some 10, 500 fans came to see today’s racing at Albacete.

After a very close start where riders were changing positions corner after corner, Alex Márquez hit his stride and managed to put a few metres between him and his pursuers in the Moto3 race. Albert Arenas’ crash in the last lap from second place meant that German Luca Amato and Japanese Hyuga Watanabe moved up to finish on the podium. Márquez’s win meant that he could increase his lead in the championship before heading to Indianapolis where he will debut as a permanent rider in the Moto3TM World Championship.

Román Ramos achieved his first victory in the Moto2 category, prevailing in a chaotic race where Torres and Noyes crashed in the last few laps. Catalan rider Jordi Torres seemed to be in for the win until the he crashed at the start of the last lap, leaving victory in the hands of Ramos, whose riding is only getting better and better. His companions on the podium were Dani Rivas and Alejandro Mariñelarena. Despite his crash, Torres, who will become a rider in the Moto2 World Championship in Indianapolis, maintains his lead in the championship standings, although he is closely followed by Ramos. Malaysian Hafizh Syahrin was the quickest rider in the Private Category.

Adrián Bonastre dominated the Stock Extreme race, managing his first victory in the category. Santiago Barragán finished in second place, in front of Carmelo Morales, after benefitting from Xavi Forés and Javier Del Amor’s crashes. Morales’ podium finish brings him even closer to winning the title with only two races left in the season for Kyle Smith, who is currently second in the championship standings, to close in on the Catalan’s 39 point lead. Argentinean rider, Marco Solorza, was victorious in the Private Category.

The next round of the CEV Buckler will again take place at Albacete Circuit on the 8th – 9th September, coinciding with the 22nd anniversary of the La Mancha track’s opening.
