Faubel battling for fitness and better results at Bro

With the summer break now a distant memory the MotoGP World Championship continues apace with the second race in as many weekends, the paddock heading from the United States back to Europe for the first of three straight rounds on the old continent. First up is the Czech Republic, followed by San Marino and Aragón, before an intercontinental triple-header in the far east and Australia. The battle for the Moto3 title promises to be an exciting one after the latest drama at Indianapolis, where Maverick Viñales crashed out in the final corner to allow Sandro Cortese to extend his lead still further in the championship. At 5.403km in length the Brno circuit is always a major challenge for the smallest bikes in the championship but it rarely fails to produce great racing for the fans.

Héctor Faubel was forced to watch the Indianapolis Moto3 race from his hospital bed after a practice crash at Indy that left him battered and bruised but thankfully without major injury. On his return to Valencia he paid a visit to Dr. Vila who has tried to accelerate the Spaniard’s recovery and although he is still in some pain he will travel to Brno and attempt to ride.

Héctor Faubel: “My whole body is aching and covered in bruises but thankfully there are no fractures. The left side of my chest, stomach and lumbar region are painful but I am past the worst of it and I am determined to ride at Brno. We found a good solution for our grip problems at Indianapolis and the bike is easier to lean over and it handles better, which gives me more confidence. I was really happy up until the crash because I could push hard and maintain a consistent pace. I’m beaten up but I want to give it my best shot at Brno. It is one of my favourite circuits on the calendar and I want to start picking up some good results from now on.”
