Julian Simon battles to 8th in chaotic Moto2 Le Mans race
Julián Simón had better fate at this weekend’s Moto2 race in Le Mans than his team mate Takaaki Nakagami , who crashed out of leading the race after having started from pole position.
Julián’s race represented the highlight of the weekend. Starting from position 18 on the grid, he delivered a very solid performance and finished in 8th place. Only once did he lose a position, and that only for the duration of one lap. At all other times he continuously gained positions.

This was a very valuable race. I regained a lot of confidence and could gain momentum. It’s been a tough race for the weather. I had a good start even though I got a bit caught up in a group of other riders. However, once I managed to free myself and find my rhythm, everything started to flow better. I’m really pumped for Mugello: it is the home race for the team, I definitely want to get a good result there. We deserve it.

Julián led the second group, and we are very happy: starting eighteenth, he has achieved a lot, posting good lap times. It ‘a result that has certainly brought a good feeling back.
Luigi Pansera (Team Manager)
Julian gave a beautiful performance, and he still has more to give, I am sure of that. He can perform at the highest level.
