Ivan Silva to replace injured Aoyama at Assen

 In MotoGP, News

Silva Avintia Avintia Blusens has announced that Ivan Silva will be substituting for the injured Hiroshi Aoyama as the MotoGP™ season continues at Assen this weekend.

Silva raced for the Spanish outfit throughout 2012 and this season is occupying the role of test rider. He steps in after Aoyama was injured in a practice crash on the Saturday of the Catalan Grand Prix, losing part of a finger.

“I am thrilled to return to the World Championship with Avintia Blusens,” says Silva, who hails from Barcelona and is currently placed third in the Stock Extreme tier of Spain’s CEV championship. “I will have to get used to riding the CRT again but I am delighted to be back here and looking forward to seeing how the bike has evolved.”

Last year at the Iveco TT Assen, Silva achieved his best MotoGP result to date by finishing 12th – a result he would go on to match at Indianapolis.
