Oliveira aiming to continue strong form in second half of the season and take home podium finishes
The first half of the MotoGP World Championship’s season ended with Miguel Oliveira arriving repeatedly on 4th position and very close to a deserved podium in the last two races. After obtaining in Assen the first Portuguese pole ever in any category of this competition, the young rider feels more confident, calm and supported. The departure to Indianapolis signalizes the competition’s return, being focused in the second half of the season to achieve podiums and maybe some wins.
Oliveira, the only representative of Portugal in the MotoGP World’s Championship is currenty 6th in the overall ranking of the Moto3 category. With a newed team and a new challenge ahead, the youngster is happy to accept the Mahindra challenge. The visible improvement in every race is the result of continuous development, refinement and adaptation of Mahindra’s MGP30 to the characteristics of each circuit.
The bike’s competitiveness in the last races which is closer and closer to KTMs makes Miguel Oliveira a serious competitor. “Despite the existing tunings of each track, the chassis of the bike is exactly the same since the beginning of the season. Mahindra’s MGP3O has a lot of potential and I feel that we’ve being doing a really good job”, says the Almada native, aiming at a technical level to still find something more in the engine, chassis and aerodynamics.
Eight races after the season’s start, the 6th place is to Oliveira “better than expected, especially given the proximity to 4th (Folger – 69 vs. 81). However, the goal is always the win”, Miguel would like to achieve, as culmination of all the work that has been done.
