12 GP Misano 12, 13, 14 y 15 de septiembre de 2013Pol Espargaro (Tuenti HP40 Pons Kalex) won the battle for pole position in the Honda-powered Moto2 category, in which the three riders on the front row were separated by just 0.058 seconds.

Espargaro, who is fighting to get his title challenge back on track after a difficult race at Silverstone two weeks ago, bettered team-mate Esteve Rabat (Tuenti HP 40 Pons Kalex) by just 0.032 seconds. The omens are good for Espargaro, whose three 2013 victories have all been won from pole.

Pol Espargaro, Tuenti HP40 Pons: pole position, 1m 37.666s
“The race tomorrow will for sure be difficult because the humidity is so high here. I’m quite happy with what we did today because finally we have found something with the new rear tyre so now we are getting faster and faster. The race will be a different story, however. We will have to push all the way and I think there will be many guys fighting at the front. In qualifying I gave my 200 per cent, which was enough to get pole, so now I will work with the mechanics to make the bike even better for tomorrow.”

Esteve Rabat, Tuenti HP 40 Pons: 2nd, 1m 37.698s
“I’m very happy with today’s result. When I went out with the first tyre, things were quite difficult but when we fitted a new rear the times came easy. At the end I pushed very hard and tried everything I could. I thought I had got pole but Pol was faster, so my congratulations to him. Tomorrow I hope to make a good start, a good race and a good result.”
