Just five days after crossing the finish line at Indianapolis the Moto3 riders were back in action on the other side of the Atlantic this morning as free practice got underway for the Czech Republic Grand Prix at Brno.

After Bastianini set the pace in the opening session this morning it was Márquez who finished the day on top of the time sheets following a crash for the Italian, one of numerous nasty falls in the afternoon session.

Márquez’s best lap of 2’07.969 was some four tenths inside the Moto3 record of 2’08.307, registered last season by Luis Salom.

MAPFRE Aspar rider Juanfran Guevara was negotiating turn six on his third lap of the Brno circuit in this afternoon’s second session when he lost the front end of his bike and crashed.

His mechanics were able to fix the bike swiftly so that Juanfran was able to return to the track with twenty minutes of the session still remaining but the young Spaniard was unable to recover full confidence and his best lap was slower than this morning.

Despite the setback Guevara was unhurt and he is confident of making up for lost time tomorrow.

28th Juanfran Guevara 2.10.394 (25 laps):
“We had a bit of problem with the bike in corner entry this morning and I was getting a lot of vibration under braking. We made some changes to the front end for the second session and put a different rear shock in but on my first run the front was folding in virtually every corner and on the third lap it went completely and I crashed. My mechanics did a great job and I was able to get back out for the last twenty minutes but the feeling still wasn’t great. It’s a setback but thankfully it is nothing major and we will continue working tomorrow to get back to the competitive level we showed at Indianapolis”.
