With a slight change to the race order at Silverstone it was the Moto2 riders that got the action underway at the British Grand Prix, with Mika Kallio making the most of the early combat to put two seconds between himself and the rest of the field at the halfway stage.

However, a late charge from Kallio’s team-mate Tito Rabat, who brought Maverick ViƱales with him, saw a fantastic three-way challenge for victory that ultimately went the way of Rabat, the series leader.

It wasn’t the race Jordi Torres dreamed of last night but the MAPFRE Aspar rider still managed to put in a positive performance after coming through a combative start.

Jordi struggled to make up positions in the early skirmishes but established his own rhythm from the tenth lap and narrowly finished outside the top ten after a strong finish.

11th Jordi Torres:
ā€œWith such long straights at this circuit I struggled a lot, so we need to think of a way to either improve the aerodynamics or the top speed of the bike. I had to fight a lot at the start of the race so it was hard to get into a rhythm and make up positions but once things settled down I was able to make progress. Looking back over the weekend we paid for some indecision and today’s race proved how important it is to gain a good grid position because otherwise it has hard to recover in this category. The objective for the next race is to work hard to improve the set-up in free practice so that we can throw everything at qualifying. We could have been up there today if we had a better grid position so that’s the goal next time.ā€
