Plaza Cervantes in Alcala de Henares (Madrid) today hosted the start of the Repsol Racing Tour, an exhibition that will bring fans closer to the history of Repsol in the company’s more than 45 years in motorsport competition. The event was attended by MotoGP World Champion Marc Marquez and his Repsol Honda teammate Dani Pedrosa, accompanied by local mayor Javier Bello and Repsol General Director Communication and Chairman’s Office, Begoña Elices.

The Repsol Racing Tour will visit different cities around Spain over the next year, transmitting Repsol’s values via their sponsorship of motorsport. These values include overcoming challenges, nobility, bravery, enthusiasm and will, promoted by the company’s support of foundation projects such as the FIM CEV Repsol and Monlau Repsol engineer and rider school. The MotoGP World Championship is the best testing platform for the development of their fuels and lubricants, which are later made available to customers at service stations.

The 145m2 interactive exhibition features the bike with which Marc Marquez won the MotoGP World Championship in 2013, Dani Pedrosa’s race leathers and various historical videos and photos. An inflatable 15 metre track as also been included for children to enjoy.

In order to choose the first stage of the exhibition’s tour, more than 50 Spanish schools participated in a competition to send videos to the Repsol website competition channel, showing their passion for motorcycle racing and illustrating the values of Repsol Honda. The Santa Maria de la Providencia de Alcala de Henares school was chosen as the winner, after receiving the most votes and best rating by the jury, and the school received the prize of a visit from Marc Marquez and Dani Pedrosa to share some unforgettable moments.

The Repsol Racing Tour exhibition can be visited for free until November 16th in Alcala de Henares. It will then move to Malaga and Almeria to continue its tour of cities in Andalusia and Murcia.

Marc Marquez
“I am very happy to be here. I liked the video the first time I saw it and I have seen that the students at the Santa Maria de la Provdencia school are familiar with Repsol values of overcoming adversity, confidence and bravery. I reminded the children that qualities, if you work with a lot of effort and consistency, come through and, in the end, anything is possible if you want it.”

Dani Pedrosa
“I am very happy to have met the children who made the winning video in the contest. It was very exciting. Having this reception from them is very nice. It is the first time I have visited Alcala de Henares and I could not be happier. Seeing the students, I remembered that as a kid I always wanted to ride bikes and always wanted to do so with Repsol Honda. I am still living my dream and in the future I would like to teach everything that I’ve learned.”

Begoña Elices, Repsol General Director of Communications
“The Repsol Racing Tour starts its journey to tell the 45-year history of Repsol in the world of motorsport. However, today the most important thing is that there is a school that has made a sensational video, Santa Maria de la Providencia, with some fantastic children who have made the values of Repsol their own. The main thing is that they always uphold these values of nobility, courage, intelligence, will and enthusiasm. That’s what children see in these two champions and what they have to see in their own lives.”
