Fresher conditions at Jerez were a surprise for the Moto3 riders, who had lower temperatures to deal with on race day than in practice. Four riders escaped early on, with each stating their case for victory.

In a race that went right down to the final corners, Danny Kent took his third consecutive Moto3 victory and was joined on the podium by Miguel Oliveira and Brad Binder. Fabio Quartararo, who had also been involved in the battle, made a mistake that allowed Binder to snatch third.

Jorge Martin completed a great job on the decisive day of the Spanish GP. The Spaniard started in fifteenth position, dropping to twentieth mid-race but moving up the order as the race progressed and he gained confidence.

He was also helped by an improvement found this morning in the warmup. Navarro gained consistency on the final laps to climb to fourteenth position and earn points for the second time this season.

Juanfran Guevara had a difficult day today at Jerez. Finishing the race in twentieth position, he was hit from behind by an angry Karel Hanika once the contest had ended. Consequently, he fractured his right collarbone in the resulting fall and will have to undergo surgery.

Race Direction have sanctioned Hanika with five penalty points, and at the next race he will start from the pits.

14th Jorge Martín:
“I started the race much better than expected, and only one rider passed me off the start. I tried to stay with the group but it was hard, because we had a repeat of the chatter from yesterday. I tried to stay calm and impose my pace. I gradually gained confidence, and as other riders dropped their pace, I managed to up mine. Halfway through the race I was stuck behind a rider who was resting a bit, when I saw that we were catching the next group I pushed harder and in the end I managed to overtake several riders on the final laps. Our feeling from yesterday has improved, but we still have much work to do on the test next Tuesday. Overall I am satisfied with the pace I managed to maintain during the race. Today we tested a new electronic setting and we could tell that there was more power. Little by little we are reaching the level we want, we have taken two points today and this motivates us to keep improving.”
