Efren Vazquez delivered a remarkable performance at Jerez today despite illness, starting form P17 on the grid to bring home a solid fifth place after he lost strength and power during the final stages of the race.

The series takes a two weeks’ break again before the championship continues with the Grand Prix de France at the legendary Le Mans circuit.

#7 Efren VAZQUEZ – 5th, World Championship position 2nd (60 points):
“Fifth in today’s race is not the best result, but in comparison with yesterday it isn’t so bad. We took really nice points because our main competitors fighting for the top position in the championship, not only Danny and Quartararo, finished in very good positions today. During this race we got also really good impressions for the next races, which is the most important thing. In general it was an ok race for me because starting from P17 on the grid, I recovered quickly but I’m a bit worried about my physical condition. In just two weeks time I suffered again healthy issues during a race weekend. So of course this was a reason why I felt empty in the final stage of the race where I couldn’t go with the front group. But also to push from the very first beginning affected tyres as well it was worse for my condition so I decided to stay calm and bring it home safely. For now I want to head home as quickly as possible in order to check my body and then we’ll see how I feel in Le Mans. But fortunate we’re still second in the championship. Thanks and congratulations to the team for the outstanding job they’re doing.”
