Changed weather conditions due to overnight rain showers, which continued all day long where the reason for delays this morning and a revised schedule for race day finally. Not only cause of the rain but foremost due to of fog in the air, it was not possible for the Medical Helicopter to fly.

After a delayed and at the same time a shortened warm up session also the race start was delayed with a shortened distance of 13 laps than the originally planned 20.

All this forced teams and rider to stay and wait until the action on track got underway with the warm up in full wet conditions, which was the very first time this weekend. However, the rain never stopped completely so the track remained wet for the race too.

Efren Vazquez, who endured difficult days of practice to qualify just in 28th position on the grid, found back his form on race day to display a comeback by finishing the race in a fine tenth position.

The MotoGP paddock heads to Australia now for the next round in just one week’s time at the ultrafast Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit.

#7 Efren VAZQUEZ – 10th, World Championship position 6th (135 points):
“Of course a tough race today, but I think it was a little bit too short for our performance. Anyway, to pass 17 riders in thirteen laps isn’t an easy task so we can be pleased with our result and furthermore we got six important points for the championship. During the race I gave 100 percent in every lap but if the distance was more usual with 20 laps I’m pretty sure that we would have been able to came home close to a position like Danny because I felt already strong in the morning when we went out on track in wet conditions for the first time this weekend. So I’m happy with my today’s performance in the wet, but on the other hand I need to close this book quickly and start from scratch in the next race in one week’s time in Australia.”
