Overall it was a positive first day of practice for Leopard Racing. At the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas, the three riders of the Moto3 class all performed well and made steady improvement since first unleashing themselves in FP1.

Now a veteran of the top five thanks to his finish in Argentina, Joan Mir began Friday in Austin with an 8th place finish in FP1. The rider from Palma de Mallorca took to the track with a different setting than in Argentina but had a great feeling straight away.

In the afternoon the Spaniard continued in refining his setting and making small tweaks throughout. He’d eventually end in 19th with a 2’27.936, over a second faster than in FP2.

Saturday morning at 09:00 Local Time (GMT -5) the third and final free practice session begins. At 12:35 Local Time the official Moto3 class Qualifying session, that will decide the order on the grid of the Grand Prix of The Americas in 2016, will begin.

#36 Joan MIR – 19th (2’17.936):
“I’m not very happy today. The first session was not so bad, but when we started to push harder, where were some minor problems with the bike. I struggled enough in FP2 with chattering, which didn’t allow me to go faster. I’m sure tomorrow we will solve it and we’ll be back at the front.”
