The morning began with overcast skies and low temperatures, nevertheless the protagonists of the Moto3 class forged ahead. Many were able to lower their times in the third and final Free Practice session. Mir, and teammtes Locatelli and Quartararo all working hard to edge closer to their ideal lap times.

Qualifying was a tense affair as ever, riders taking their time to improve on their fast laps. As always, the three riders of the Leopard Racing team gave their all in session, working closely with their mechanics to get the most out of the KTMs. In the early stages Quartararo and Mir attacked the top five, while further back Locatelli worked on improving his times.

It all came down to the final lap as Joan Mir proved he was the master of his own home, diving under 1’47 barrier to claim seventh. His 1’46/962 was 0.739s behind his great CEV rival Nicolò Bulega.

Riders will take to the track at 08:40 local time (GMT +2) on Sunday for 20 minutes of Warm Up. Then at 11:00 the lights go out for the fourth round of the 2016 World Championship.

#36 Joan MIR – 7th (1’46.962):
“We brought home a decent result, especially after the practice rounds. I could not find the right feeling and the times didn’t come. Towards the end I began to force myself to push harder and hard and I managed a good lap. I’m pleased that we’ll start seventh which is a good position to start from. Tomorrow we will be there in the front group, it’s too close to let anyone run away.”
