It was a shortened intermediate class race at the 2016 Italian Grand Prix due to red flag on the fourth lap. The quick start procedure was used for the first time and the race distance reduced to ten laps.

The leading five immediately ran off to challenge for victory while a sizeable second group remained together. On the threshold of the top ten were the two Leopard Racing team riders.

Miguel Oliveira battled with the front runners of the class like Rins and Nakagami. Three laps from the end the Portuguese rider overtook his teammate, but Kent fought back immediately. The Moto3 World Champion battled with the veteran Corsi with Oliveira waiting and ready to take advantage.

The two riders of the Leopard Racing team crossed the finish line in 13th and 14th place, both in the points. Miguel Oliveira and Danny Kent now have 15 and 12 points respectively in the standings, their performance bodes well for the next race in Montmello in Barcelona in just two weeks time.

The team will remain in Mugello on Monday for the first official in-season test.

#44 Miguel Oliveira – 13th:
“Today was a very strange race. I think that finishing in the points is a very positive result: we take all the good things we did to Barcelona. But first, tomorrow, we will stay here at Mugello for a day of testing and we hope for good weather to allow us to improve the bike.”
