Estrella Galicia 0,0 Moto3 riders Alonso Lopez and Sergio Garcia Dols contested the Aragon Grand Prix race on Sunday at MotorLand.

Alonso finished fifth, only 113 thousandths of a second off second place, after an intense battle throughout the race. Garcia Dols was less than half a second from finishing on the podium after starting from 29th; both riders had their best race of the season so far.

The warmup was undertaken on wet tyres due to the damp track surface, but the asphalt finally dried up for the race start at 11:20am. The 19-lap race was won by Spanish rider Aron Canet.

The Estrella Galicia 0,0 pair will be back in action on October 4th, for the first free practice for the Thai Grand Prix at Buriram.

Alonso Lopez
“I’m very happy about the race result, because during the entire weekend we rode fast both in the dry and wet. I think that was the most positive thing. I also set my best lap time riding alone, without using references from other riders, which helped me in the race. I was always amongst the first three or four; I was quite comfortable in the group. On the last corner I made a pass up the inside, but I wasn’t able to make it stick.”

Sergio García
“It was a tough weekend because we were lacking something and we were somewhat lost, but we worked harder than ever and we managed to show our potential. Although we still have a little way to go to be up there with the first group, starting 29th and finishing 7th means I finish the weekend very satisfied. We were on the limit all the time and I enjoyed myself a lot. I hope we can make the leap up to the first group during the flyaways.”
