Two points in Czech GP for Bulega, Pons recovers eight places to finish 20th

Team Federal Oil Gresini Moto2 leaves Czech Republic with two points today thanks to Nicolò Bulega. This is by no means a satisfactory result, but given the difficulties encountered in qualifying these are two well-earned points. The Italian rider therefore finishes in the top 15 for the third consecutive time and now looks forward to the two rounds in Austria to keep progressing.

On the other side of the pit-box, it was an uphill race for Edgar Pons who did a good comeback – he recovered eight places – but was starting from too far back on the grid to aim at any relevant result. A lot of experience and many kms for the Spaniard, ahead of the first of two back-to-back events which gets underway in four days.

NICOLÒ BULEGA

“This isn’t the race we wanted but after such a poor qualifying performance we couldn’t aim at anything better. I didn’t get a good start but as soon as I managed to get up to speed, I was able to recover some positions. The top 15 is not our goal but it is what it is now so we get those two points. The two Austrian rounds will help us grow, I’m sure.”

EDGAR PONS

“We lapped with a good pace as we could have been in the top 12. Given yesterday qualifying it was difficult to do better but we gathered some experience and there’s a lot of work to do to fix some things and keep growing especially in qualifying. I like the bike a lot more each outing so we need to keep working non stop.”
