First points for Pons in Barcelona, DNF for Bulega

Smiles are finally popping up in the Edgar Pons’s side of team Federal Oil Gresini Moto2, who put together good performance on his home track at Montmeló. After a disastrous start, the Spaniard had a great comeback (from 26th to 14th) showing a very good race pace, a sign that the feeling with the bike is coming. Two points under his belt but especially some extra motivation ahead of the final leg of the season.

A bit of regret for Nicolò Bulega, who had the pace to battle for the #CatalanGP top ten but was forced to an early retirement after few kms due to a collision between Manzi ans Dalla Porta in which he unfortunately got caught in. The ‘hanging’ exhaust of his Kalex machine was too dangerous to continue.

EDGAR PONS:

“A very positive race. Obviously we got our first two points and I’m happy about it, but the race itself was good: on lap one I was 26th after a terrible start, but we managed to chip away bit by bit. We had a good pace and I was able to make up many positions. It’s a good starting point considering that aside Le Mans, of which I have no good memory, there are several circuits that I know well. Thanks to the team!”

NICOLÒ BULEGA:

“I passed Manzi at turn ten and Manzi wipes both of us out. Dalla Porta crashed out while I was forced to retire because the exhaust was damaged and at the first turn I nearly crashed. Not much else to say.”
