3rd for Bezzecchi in Le Mans, Marini retains Championship lead

 In Moto2, News

A race with really tricky conditions the one that just ended at Le Mans with the third place of Marco Bezzecchi and the 17th position of Luca Marini. After a dry warm-up session, a sudden storm hit Le Mans complicating the plans of the Sky Racing Team VR46.

Started from the fifth position of the grid with dry tire and wet asphalt, Marco did not take too many risks remaining in the slipstream of the strongest guys. Second at the start of the last lap, he lost the place of honor at the very last corner.

A more difficult weekend for Luca. Due to the crashes on Friday, he was forced to miss the free practice sessions and today he found himself on the track for the first time in this type of weather. After a good start, he struggled to keep the pace of the fastest riders.

With the points scored today, Marco is in third place in the standings (130 points). Confirmed the leadership in the Team ranking (280 points) and Luca is still the Top rider of the category with 150 points.

Marco Bezzecchi:

I am happy with this third place but what a pity for the overtaking at the last corner. Today was a real lottery for everyone: we weren’t expecting a wet race, instead it started raining immediately after the Moto3. I had a good start, I tried not to make mistakes, use my head and hit the maximum possible result without wasting anything.

Luca Marini:

A difficult race: the crashes on Friday didn’t help me, I had no feeling with the bike and I wasn’t able to warm the tires well in the first laps. I have struggled a lot.
