Poor outcome as Rodrigo and Alcoba finish 14th and 15th in Alcaniz GP

Gabriel Rodrigo and Jeremy Alcoba combined for only three points in the second and last race at the MotorLand Aragon. The two standard bearers of Kömmerling Gresini have in fact rounded out the top 15 in this 12th GP of the season in 14th and 15th, respectively.

This turned out to be quite a disappointing result because Gabriel Roderigo was starting from fourth place and he even led the race at some point in the first three to four laps, and Jeremy Alcoba – despite lining up in 14th place on the grid – he showed one week prior that he could battle for honours as he had missed the podium for a fraction of a second.

Things did not go the right way today, however, with the two Gresini riders completing the #AlcanizGP side by side and now waiting another ten days before starting yet another – this time final – triple header of what has been so far a difficult season.

GABRIEL RODRIGO:

“It’s hard to understand what happened. We have the race pace, but in the hotly contested races we are struggling too much. Other riders are suffering from the same problem and we must understand what it is. Today we basically couldn’t overtake, and I think we will find the right way with the team in the final part of the season.”

JEREMY ALCOBA:

“A race to forget in every way. After all the work done and in light of all the good things we did both on Friday and last weekend, it was truly a bad race. We thought we were more competitive, but at the beginning I wasn’t feeling the rear tyre much. Maybe we didn’t make the right choice. Despite everything we were there, quite close. The only way to overtake was if one rider ahead made a mistake. A pity, but we’ll analyse what happened, and we will turn the page on this race quickly.”
