Front row start for Zarco at #PortugueseGP as Pramac team wishes Martin a speedy recovery

 In MotoGP, News

It has been a bitter-sweet Saturday for Pramac Racing. Tomorrow, Johann Zarco will start from the first row of the starting grid whereas Jorge Martín, due to crashing in FP3, will not take part in the Grand Prix. Zarco’s time of 1:38.911, accomplished on his second run in Q2, has landed him the third place. A harmless slip on the first run did not allow the French rider to end what would have been the ‘fast lap’. Luckily, being able to re-enter the box on his bike gave him time to ride for the whole of the second run and attempt two more time-attacks.

Jorge Martín, after being involved in a bad crash during practice this morning, is recovering in hospital. The Spanish rider will have to go under an operation for both the metacarpus in his right hand and and medial malleolus of his right foot. He will be operated in Barcelona these upcoming days. We will be giving updates as soon as possible and the entire team at Pramac Racing wish Jorge the best of luck!

Johann Zarco:

I am ready for tomorrow’s race, to start on the first row is always an advantage. This is especially true for a track like this, where remaining in front of the group is fundamental. Unfortunately, I slipped during the first run, but I was able to bring the bike back to the box and this gave me the time to do the second run. We have the chance to do well tomorrow.
