6th place for Bezzecchi, crash for Vietti at #PortugueseGP

 In Moto2, News

Marco Bezzecchi crosses the finishing line of the Portuguese GP in P6 and confirms to the fourth place in the general standings (36 points). Starting from the fifth position of the starting grid, the rider of the Sky Racing Team VR46 immediately took the lead of the race for the first 10 laps. Struggling to keep the pace in the final stages of the race, he was forced to give up positions.

A crash instead for Celestino Vietti in the early stages of the race due to a contact with another rider when he was close to the group fighting for points after he has started from the P23.

Marco Bezzecchi:

A shame for the podium because was so close until the last laps. A good weekend, where we were fast. After the start, I don’t know why but I was flying and I immediately took the lead. Then I have started to struggle more and I had to pick up the pace for not to take too many risks and arrive to the finishing line. We go to Jerez stronger and ready to show our potential.

Celestino Vietti:

I am so sorry for the team because we were doing a good race and I was close to the group fighting for the points. The pace was good and we did a really great job. Unfortunately I could not do anything to avoid the crash.
