Diggia in the points again with 11th, Bulega crashes out of #PortugueseGP

Fabio Di Giannantonio and Team Federal Oil Gresini Moto2 score some important points with an 11th place finish in the Portuguese Grand Prix and with finally a good feeling about the Kalex #21 at the end of what has been a challenging weekend.

After the problems in qualifying (only two laps due to an ECU issue) and the warm up problems (he had to pull back in due to a mechanical problem), Di Giannantonio did well in staying focused and battle for a top ten finish until the end. The #21 rider is now fifth in the championship standings with 27 points.

A Sunday to forget for Nicolò Bulega who was out of contention after a few laps following a coming together with Celestino Vietti at turn one. Fortunately, the Italian rider escaped the tumble uninjured, even though his point-scoring drought continues.

FABIO DI GIANNANTONIO:

“Generally speaking, it has been a challenging weekend and to start back surely didn’t help. The race pace wasn’t too bad but we struggled especially under braking. Let’s say that the combination Diggia-brakes is still not 100% and we will need it in the next race. We are taking some some points and we showed we never give up.”

NICOLÒ BULEGA:

“Unfortunately we didn’t find the right feeling with the bike and we struggled a lot under braking. We started off bad but I had a pace to easily be in the top ten. Unfortunately at turn one, which we get to at high speed, I made a mistake also as I was sucked in by the slipstream when I was overtaking Fabio. I’m sorry I took another rider with me in the process, but it was totally unintentional.”
