Good 8th for Garzó in #PortugueseGP, DNF for Manzi

Mixed luck on Sunday racing for the FlexBox HP 40 in the third grand prix of the season, at the Portimão Circuit in Portugal.

After a weekend riding among the fastest, today Héctor Garzó came out on the track convinced of doing a good race. After making a correct start from twelfth position, the FlexBox HP 40 rider set his pace during the race until he reached the eight position, leading the second race group, riding at the same pace as the race leader. He has not abandoned that position and has crossed the finish line scoring 8 good points in his locker and thus completing a good weekend.

More complicated Sunday for Stefano Manzi. Sito Pons’ pupil started from twentieth position but confident of being able to make a good comeback. Feeling comfortable on top of his Kalex, Manzi was putting on a very good performance and climbing positions, moment when another rider crashed him at turn one without being able to avoid it. Luckily, Manzi is fine although this afternoon he will undergo a medical examination to rule out any damage.

The FlexBox HP 40 says goodbye to Portugal and heads to Jerez to compete in the next grand prix, on April 30, May 1 and 2.

Héctor Garzó:

“Today was a good Sunday, we ended up happy. We achieved a solid eighth position, especially running at a good pace at the end of the race. We need to improve on Saturdays to be able to get a better position on the grid, and we know we have the ability to fight for the podium. I am happy with the result, we have worked very well throughout the weekend and we must apply what we have learned in the following races. Thanks to the team, Sito and the sponsors, with our mind set on Jerez already.”

Stefano Manzi:

“I am disappointed with how Sunday ended. Luckily, after the strong accident I am quite well, although today when I arrive in Italy I will have a medical check-up to confirm it. I want to thank the team again because today we had taken another step forward. I was riding at a good pace and coming back but unfortunately I was hit by another rider’s bike and I couldn’t avoid the crash, a crash through no fault of my own, but that’s the way of racing. Now it’s time to think about the next race.”
