The second day of the IRTA test at Jerez had great weather – much better than the cold and wind of the previous day.

The good conditions were a great help to the HP40 Paginas Amarillas riders Luis Salom and Alex Rins as they continued to test their 2015 Kalex machines with different setups.

Spaniard Luis Salom managed to set the second fastest time of the day, with a lap time faster than the GP at the circuit last season. Salom was largely testing to pull together a good and consistent race pace.

On the other side of the box, rookie Alex Rins has continued the laborious process of adaptation to the new category on a day which has accumulated 91 laps.

The two young protégés of Sito Pons will try to take advantage of the final day of the testing tomorrow, which is the last chance until next tests to be held at Jerez in mid-March.

2nd LUIS SALOM 1: 42,484
“It was a positive day. We started well from the first round and we have been working with different configurations. I’ve tried a rocking at noon that I have not liked a lot and for the last run of the day we returned to the previous settings. Then I pushed and I managed to set a good time, but mostly I’m happy because I have good rhythm with worn tires, which puts us in a good position to face the final day tomorrow.”

ALEX 9th RINS 1: 43,347
“The day has gone pretty well, we’ve been working hard. It is the first day that we have made things really try and play with the settings of the bike. At the end of the day we found the line that we have to follow and tomorrow we have to go that way. I hope tomorrow to continue learning in this category that is so complicated.”
