The Moto2 class followed in the wheel tracks of MotoGP and Moto3 at Le Mans where the lap records continued to tumble during this afternoon’s qualifying session.

Marc Márquez’s best lap from 2012 fell to a sensational effort from rookie Jonas Folger, who knocked Tito Rabat off pole position by just 0.004 seconds with a time of 1’37.619 on the penultimate lap of the day.

The German starts from the front of the grid for the first time in Moto2 tomorrow but unlike the last race at Jerez there are several genuine candidates for victory in France.

Unfortunately MAPFRE Aspar riders Jordi Torres and Nico Terol have different goals tomorrow as they continue to work on the front-end problems that have troubled them all weekend at Le Mans.

The pair have experimented with no end of set-up configurations but neither has been able to improve their mid-corner confidence and they face a challenge tomorrow as they start from 22nd and 28th position respectively.

22nd Jordi Torres 1.38.731 (21 laps):
“Things are not going as we hoped here because we are having a lot of problems with the front end of the bike. It is a critical aspect at this circuit in particular. This afternoon we tried the harder tyre and it helped us a little bit but we still have a long way to go. We have worked a lot with the geometry of the chassis, the suspension set-up and the weight distribution, trying to find a solution that allows me to ride more comfortably. We are struggling to find a way out but we will continue working until the situation improves.”

28th Nico Terol 1.39.298 (23 laps):
“We have had two tough days here with a lot of front end problems. I can’t get the bike stopped and turned and it is making life difficult. We have to get the corner entry right so that we can get on the gas in the right place to get out of the corner quickly. We couldn’t have worked any harder and I have a great team that is doing everything possible to make the changes we need to try and improve. I am annoyed with myself because we are fighting to improve but at the moment not achieving it. This is the time when we have to be strong and continue our efforts to turn the situation around.”
