1995 – 1997:  Wins 3 consecutive titles in the Bizkaia y Euskadi Championship (Minimotos). Also, wins the Vasco-Navarro Minimoto Championship in 1997 and ranks an impressive 4th overall in the Spanish Minimoto Championship.
1998:  Steps up into the Spanish Minimoto Championship (full-season) and ranks 3rd overall in the Riders’ Classification.
1999:  Leaves the world of Minimotos and takes the next step into the ‘big’ two-wheelers. Starts out in the Aprilia Cup 50cc, where he grabs 10th place at his very first attempt.
2000:  Advances into the Aprilia Cup 125cc, where he makes a pretty good impression and shows great riding skills.
2001:  Wins his first ever national title, becoming Spanish champion of the RACE 125cc Trophy.
2004:  Alberto Puig sees a great future for Efrén inside the world of racing and gives him the opportunity to ride in the Movistar Junior Cup. The Bilbao-based rider takes it and ranks an encouraging 6th place at the end of the season.
2005:  Debuts in the Spanish 125cc Championship and ranks 4th overall in the Riders’ Classification. Makes 2 podium appearances throughout the season.
2006:  A season to forget for Efrén inside the Spanish 125cc Championship, as he injures himself in a crash and suffers a broken collar bone in the mid-season. Nevertheless, manages to come 7th at the end of the year.
2007:  Continues to compete inside the Spanish 125cc Championship, ranking 3rd at the end of the season. Also, debuts inside the FIM World 250cc Championship at the British Grand Prix and gets to compete 10 rounds in the 2007 season. Finishes 15th in Czech Republic as the only point-scoring performance of the season. Is set to continue his FIM adventure down at the 125cc class, with Blusens Aprilia.
2008:  Competes on a full-time schedule inside the 125cc World Championship and scores 31 points for Blusens Aprilia. Highlights a 9th place in the season opener, in Qatar, and finishes the year as the 20th best rider in the series.

Another rider who was educated in the MotoGP Academy, Efrén Vázquez is one of the older heads in the 125cc category for 2011 having arrived relatively late to the World Championship in 2007.

After a season in 250s Vázquez opted to move to the 125cc class for 2008, and his progress in the category has been rapid. 2010 proved to be his best year to date as he took his first podium finish and placed fifth in the standings, while in 2011 used his improved experience riding for Aki Ajo’s team and taking a few podium finishes.
