Héctor Faubel

Number: 55
Place of birth: Llíria
Date of birth: 10/Aug/1983
Weight: 61 kg
Height: 169 cm

Having started his competitive career at just ten years old, Hector Faubel raced mini-bikes for three years, finishing runner-up in the Spanish Championship before stepping up to 80 and 125cc competitions in successive years. In 1998 he won the 125cc Aprilia Cup and moved into the 125cc Spanish Championship a year later, finishing 12th in his first year.

Having made a handful of 125 World Championship wildcard appearances in 2000 and 2001, Faubel went straight into the 250 class for a full season in 2002 alongside Casey Stoner onboard an Aprilia. He scored points at four Grands Prix to finish 23rd in his first season, followed up by a creditable 13th placed championship finish in 2003 and then 17th the following year. In 2005 the Spaniard opted to return to the 125 scene, remaining on an Aprilia, and instantly improved results in the smaller cylinder class to conclude the campaign in 9th position.

2006 Faubel enjoyed one of his best seasons, winning in Istanbul and Valencia to gain third position overall, and went into the 2007 campaign as one of the firm contenders for the title, ending the year as runner-up by five points to Aspar teammate Gabor Talmacsi. The 2008 and 2009 seasons saw Faubel again riding in 250s, and in 2010 he took part in the new Moto2 class, riding for Marc VDS. It was not a successful switch for Faubel however as he only placed 26th overall.

He returned to the 125 category for its final season in 2011, being heralded as one of the main title contenders having come close to being crowned World Champion in the class before, but being outperformed by his teammate Nico Terol who went on to take the title.

He stays with the Aspar Team in 2012 in the new Moto3 class.
