Marc Marquez began his career at just six years of age, originally in motocross and minibike competitions, before making his way into roadracing. He was Repsol KTM´s new signing for 2008, entering the 125cc World Championship on the back of his appearances in the Spanish national series (CEV).

In 2007 he finished eighth in the CEV classification, catching the eye of Alberto Puig and inspiring his countryman to bring him onto the world stage alongside Esteve Rabat. In his rookie year the diminutive Marquez won plaudits for his gutsy performances, recording a podium finish at Donington and featuring in the top ten on several other occasions.

He started the campaign late due to a pre-season injury and had his season cut short after a nasty incident in Malaysia which saw his right leg trapped in his bike in free practice in Malaysia, damaging the cartilage around the tibia bone. Riding for the Red Bull-sponsored 125cc KTM team in 2009, Marquez scored a single podium on his way to eighth overall, before his full talent truly blossomed in 2010 as he scored an incredible 10 victories from 12 poles on his way to the 125cc World Championship title.

Stepping up to Moto2 in 2011 the youngster got off to a rocky start, crashing in the first three rounds and not scoring a single point. But a first win in Round 4 at Le Mans laid the way for six more victories as he pushed Stefan Bradl for the title. Further crashes complicated his campaign. After crashing into the back of Ratthapark Wilairot after practice in Australia he was penalized to start the race from the last place on the grid and a crash in practice at the Malaysian GP then ended Márquez’s season prematurely.

Problems with his vision as a result of that crash also cut short his 2012 pre-season, but he was back on the pace in the final Test at Jerez and will be a title favourite on board his Suter.
