The second day of pre-season tests at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo was very satisfying for the Páginas Amarillas HP 40 team.

Majorcan rider Luis Salom, who had finished fourth in the Moto2 race held at the same circuit a bit more than a week ago, made an important step forward in his performance and rode his fastest lap below the time of the circuit record.

Salom feels very comfortable with the 2015 version of the Kalex bike and he had a very good feeling from the first lap on. Luis knows he’s got a lot of work to complete this winter and he’ll tackle next week’s tests at the circuit of Jerez with much enthusiasm and confidence.

On the other side of the box, rookie Alex Rins surprised everyone with an extraordinary performance. On his second day on the Moto2 Kalex he continued to ride very fast and set a laptime at just 2 tenths below that of his teammate, just one above the circuit record.

Rins was very satisfied with his first outing on his new bike, but he knows there is a lot of work to be done before the end of this preseason.

There was also good work from Edgar Pons, who joined Salom and Rins on these two days of testing at Valencia. Edgar, who got the fastest lap on Sunday in the final round of the FIM CEV run on this track: a time which he has improved on by more than a second.

Edgar has been delighted by the opportunity to shoot with the fastest riders in the world and have been able to substantially improve his time.

Luis Salom
“This second day was very positive. Already during the first few laps we were very fast. During the last couple of laps we hoped to improve our time but we ran into a lot of traffic and couldn’t improve. It’s a shame because we know we could have gone faster. The feeling is really very good and I’m very happy because we made an important step forward. We hope we can continue this good work at the next test before the winter break.”

Alex Rins
“I’m very happy. The time we achieved is very fast for the first time here on the Kalex. Now we mustn’t ease off and continue working hard to settle into this category properly and improve.”

Edgar Pons
“The truth is that this second day has been very positive. We have taken very good conclusions from it. I am adapting to the Dunlop and am doing very well with it. Yesterday I wasn’t really getting much feeling, but today we have been improving and each time I felt better and could pull the times in further. It’s great to share the track with these guys with so much experience and it’s amazing because you learn a lot faster than you would riding alone or with riders of the same level. I really want to get to the next test to keep working hard and keep growing.”
