Takaaki Nakagami equalled his best-ever MotoGP result as he claimed a superb fourth place at the Spanish Grand Prix in Jerez. The LCR Honda IDEMITSU rider showed consistency and aggression throughout the 25-lap race to finish just outside the podium places, deservedly ending the weekend in southern Spain as the leading Honda bike.

Departing from the second row, Taka made a solid start and battled with reigning world champion Joan Mir for sixth spot in the early exchanges. He then made a decisive move with seven laps remaining to climb up into fourth, passing Aleix Espargaro and Fabio Quartararo in successive corners. He ran out of laps to challenge for the final podium position, but settled for his third P4 result in the premier class.

Takaaki Nakagami:

“I’m really happy about my performance during the race. I had a good start and from the beginning to the end I gave my best. We had good pace, really consistent and I’m happy about that myself, but we missed another podium chance, only by six tenths so I have mixed feelings. The team looks really happy and it was a good weekend, we were really consistent and P4 is a great result for me and the team. I’m really looking forward to the next race in Le Mans. We need to carry on like this, we’ve definitely found good pace.”
