Crash in second session ends Espargaro’s first day at Qatar early

Pol Espargaro had a difficult debut to the Moto2 category which ended in a crash on the second practice session for the Qatar Grand Prix, the first race of the 2011 World Championship. The HP Tuenti rider has been improving his laptimes in the first free practice, finishing in 17th position, but the second session he crashed early could not get back on track because his FTR SpeedUp was too destroyed.

POL ESPARGARÓ: “The crash was a shame, because in the first session I was very comfortable and improved my laptimes everytime I went out. In the second session I expected to continue making progress, but on the fifth lap I crashed in a quick righthander. The handlebar was pretty destroyed and the mechanics were unable to do anything to get back on track before the end of the practice. I’m disappointed, but I’m clear that this is part of my learning process in Moto2 and I’m not going to be in top positions overnight.”
