Difficult day for Espargaro, but confident to challenge for top eight

The official qualifying session for the Indianapolis Grand Prix has been a difficult one for the riders of the Pons HP 40 team and in general for all Kalex bikes on track. In fact, Aleix Espargaro finished with the fastest lap of the riders for the German brand, which placed him in 17th position on the grid. Nevertheless Espargaró managed to set a good pace, finishing just over a second off pole, which makes his strategy for tomorrow to push for a good start and try to start moving up slowly to finish in the best possible position.

#40. Aleix Espargaro: 17th – 1’45.136
“The bike is at a point this weekend where I like it the least. It closes up way before changing direction, when you release the brake on corner entry it closes up and I can do nothing. Anyway, the rhythm is not bad. It’s all very tight and those three or four tenths that we have lacked to be in the second row are those that leave us far behind. Tomorrow we will be playing catchup. I don’t think we are going to win or be among the first group, but not in 17th either. Rather than that I think I can without much trouble go for the first eight positions and that would be fine. But there will be many riders to overtake.”
