The final day of the IRTA test at Jerez has finished with sunny conditions and warm temperatures, although around midday a few clouds appeared which made the teams a little nervous, but fortunately there was no more rain before the end of all sessions at the Jerez circuit.

Despite the good conditions, activity on the track did not commence before halfway through the morning. Angel Rodriguez got out on track at 11.15AM with the aim to post a good laptime with his FTR.

He tested new configurations on his bike, mainly on the front where he had experienced some chattering problems. Close to midday Rodri had a crash in the eighth corner. At that point he lost the front of his bike and flew off it, but fortunately without any serious consequences for the rider.

In the session only of Moto2 riders Angel went back out to solve the problems with the front, testing some new configurations. In the final session Angel tested new parts on his bike with a satisfactory result for the rider. He finished the day with a best lap of 1,43.2 after 50 laps.

The next test will be the official IRTA test in March, scheduled from 19th to 21st. There all riders will have the same engine packages and Dorna will supply official laptimes with transponders.

Angel Rodriguez: “I’m very happy with this last day of testing. We started the day with chattering problems and grip issues on the rear, both of which we could solve after using different modifications on the bike. Also the laptimes I did motivate me a lot, once all riders use the same engines, we’ll find out our real position in the field.”
