This weekend saw the CEV reach its 100th race over its 15 years of competitive racing which has become one of the most important international championships. 20,000 fans attended the Circuit de Catalunya and enjoyed a day of racing full of passion and emotion being the common denominator for all the categories where the victories were so closely fought.

When it’s said that the CEV Buckler and Moto3 category is a school for riders to start their careers, it certainly showed that this weekend. Up to eight riders fought for victory over the 15 laps, delighting the audience with a myriad of overtaking and furious merciless battles until the end. Finally, taking the win was Italian Francesco Bagnaia who finished in first position ahead of Álex Márquez by only three-thousandths of a second, resulting in judging the win by studying the photo finish. German Luca Amato took third.

In Moto2, Jordi Torres achieved another victory overcoming the pain from his left ankle injury. The Catalan had a comfortable victory ahead of Kenny Noyes, Román Ramos and Alejandro Mariñelarena. The American and the two Spaniards staged a spectacular race in which they fought hard to take the second and third positions on the podium. Malaysian rider Hafizh Syahrin finished in fifth place, winning in the privateer category.

The Stock Extreme race also did not disappoint by once again producing a thrilling fight for victory. The win went into the hands of Carmelo Morales, adding his third consecutive victory and now consolidating first place in the general ranking. Xavi Fores after dominating in practice was unable to keep up with the pace of Morales and eventually finished in second place ahead of a fighting Javier del Amor who didn’t give up without a fight throughout the 16 lap race. Raúl García was the best privateer rider.

The Kawasaki Ninja Cup ended the historic weekend of racing, with Francisco Javier Hidalgo being awarded victory ahead of Ignacio Contreras and Julio David Palao took third to complete the podium.

The next race in the CEV Buckler will be held on the weekend of 21 and 22 July at the Circuito de Albacete.
