Top ten finish for Moncayo in first race with new team as Vazquez and Martin crash out

 In Moto3, News

After the team just saw their first pole position disappear from their hands yesterday, today the bad luck returned to the JHK T-Shirt LaGlisse team. Efrén Vázquez was comfortably fighting within the lead group and with good chances to take the first podium for the team, but the particular track of Indianapolis dealt him a bad hand and he went to the ground. Not much better luck had his teammate Adrián Martín who went wide in the second corner and after colliding with several riders ended up in the gravel.

The only positive note of the race in the United States was the ninth place for Alberto Moncayo in his debut with the Andalucía JHK T-Shirt LaGLisse Team. The Spaniard adapted very well to the FTR with the Honda engine and in Brno he hopes to make another step forward.

#7 Efrén Vázquez “This is the other side of racing. Yesterday we celebrated with a good lap which almost gave us pole position and today, even though I did a good race and was staying calm, I crashed. In the entry of the corner I lost a little bit of grip at the rear and when I pushed a bit at the front I lost it. This circuit is very slippery and I couldn’t do anything. It’s a shame, because we had a good pace with used tyres and we could have taken some good points for the championship. I want to thank the team for all their work and I hope to repay them with a good result in Brno. The good thing is that we’ll be there in no time and give it our all.”

#26 Adrián Martín “It was a desaster. Starting from so far behind these things can happen and if you want to be in the points or the top ten I guess you have to take a gamble in the first laps. I tried to pass as many riders as possible at the start and in the second corner I made a mistake and collided. I touched with Ajo and we crashed. I think we have to start working a bit better on Saturdays to start from further in front. From this Grand Prix I take away Friday as the only positive. In Brno I hope my luck will change and that I can get a good result, because both the team and myself are working hard to achieve that.”

#23 Alberto Moncayo 9º “I’m happy. I got off the bike with a smile and this is very good. I enjoyed myself on the bike, I gave my best and I think we had a good pace from start to finish. At the beginning I struggled a little bit, but when I thought to latch on to Folger to catch up with the guys in front, Kornfeil passed me and we held each other up enough to lose touch. But I’m very happy, because it’s the first weekend with this bike and with the team which gave me the chance to be here. We would have liked to be further up, but in the next race we start even more motivated and knowing the bike, so I think if we can start well we can challenge for the podium.”
