Rosell not able to profit from track knowledge in wet conditions but happy to find right feeling

 In Moto2, News

QMMF Racing Team rider Elena Rosell was looking forward to making the best out of her track knowledge at Aragón, but had to start all over again when the wet weather set in. Nevertheless, the only lady racer in the world championship found the right feeling for the track without any problems and improved steadily, cutting more than two seconds off her lap time from the first to the second session.

Elena Rosell – 31st in 2.15,056 “Even though I know the circuit, I have never ridden a bike here in the rain and since this is only my third race on our new bike, I don’t have a lot of experience with the Speed-Up in these conditions. That’s why I wanted to do things step by step today, trying to get a feeling for the bike and the track and improving steadily without taking unnecessary risks. Riding here in the rain is almost like being on a different circuit, so my track knowledge here didn’t help me much and I didn’t get to enjoy riding here the way I expected. In the second session, I also had a problem with the helmet visor that kept misting up. I had to pull in twice and only when my technicians drew some holes into the visor, the situation improved. In the end, I ran out of time for another attempt to clock a faster lap, but at least, I found my rhythm and got the right feeling for the conditions. Even if it rains again tomorrow, I should be able to go much quicker!”
