Efrén Vázquez and Adrián Martín in Sepang top ten, Moncayo 18th
The GP of Malaysia has been very positive for the JHK T-Shirt LaGlisse team with both riders finishing in the top ten.
Efrén Vázquez had a very good start and was riding in second position, but he then had a couple of wobbles that knocked his confidence a little and he crossed the line in 8th place.
Adrián Martín had a very brave ride fighting in the second group for the whole race. The Valencian gave everything in the last lap and crossed the line in 10th position.
Also fighting in this second group was Alberto Moncayo, rider for the Andalucía JHK T-Shirt LaGlisse team. But he didn’t feel comfortable on the bike and came 18th. Now the championship travels to Phillip Island in Australia for the penultimate race of this season and the JHK T-Shirt LaGlisse riders will again play a big role.
It’s been a hard race. Overall, I made a good start and found myself in a good position during the first couple of laps. But then I started to have wobbles and slides at the front and I almost fell. This made me lose many positions and also a little bit of concentration. That way, a gap had opened up that I just couldn’t close again.
Ultimately, we have achieved our objective. I fought tooth and claw and I believe the team deserves this, especially Jaime, and also the sponsors, my family and those who never stopped supporting me. In the last lap I passed the 16th and I crossed the finish line as 10th. The bike worked really well, although we’re still lacking some power to get to the level of the KTM.
It’s been a difficult race. I didn’t get a good start and couldn’t maintain the pace in such a big group. This morning when I was riding alone all was going well, but in the race I couldn’t brake where I wanted to. The important thing is that we made a few passes and that we’re collecting valuable information in preparation for next year.
