Efren Vazquez on front row at Phillip Island, Adrian Martin hoping to battle for points

Saturday showed a great performance by Efrén Vázquez and the JHK T-Shirt LaGlisse team during the qualifying session of the Australian GP.

The ever changing weather conditions in Phillip Island have played a key role but the plan of action by the team brought the desired results. Efrén was on provisional pole for a good part of the session and in the end finished as 3rd fastest. Starting from the front row of the grid, the rider and the team have high expectations for the race.

Adrián Martín didn’t have much luck, but despite starting from 17th positions, his race pace is good and he hopes to score points.

Alberto Moncayo, rider of the Andalucía JHK T-Shirt LaGlisse team, had almost no time out on track due to a technical problem with his bike. But in the end he could put in one good lap and will start from the third row.

I’m happy with qualifying. In the morning I had a crash that luckily didn’t do any damage, but we knew we had a good pace. In qualifying, with new tyres, we made full use of these first few dry laps to post a good time. For tomorrow I can see a race with the leading group close together but Cortese has the pace to break it up. It’s important to get a good start and after that we’ll see how the race pans out.

It seems luck isn’t on our side this weekend. In Malaysia everything was good but here I can’t get a good feeling on the bike, not helped by the fact that I could hardly ride because of the interruptions by the rain. But we have to stay positive and think that tomorrow we can have a good race. My mindset is more about the race itself and I believe that if we can score some points it’ll be good for me and the team.

Bad luck again. It seemed that we had a good setting this morning and I had a good feeling on the bike, but as soon as the qualifying session started, we had a problem with the clutch and I missed the first few laps when the track was dry. But we didn’t just throw the towel in and with just a single good lap at the end I posted the 11th fastest time. Tomorrow I will try to get a good start and will fight for a good result.
