Salom “a little disappointed” as he just misses out on Valencia pole

 In Moto3, News

In only the final seconds of the qualifying practice for the Grand Prix of Valencia Luis Salom was knocked off pole position. The last minute take over from Jonas Folger upset Salom, who had set his mind on pole position for his last race for RW Racing GP.

The qualifying session was the first practice in dry circumstances in Valencia. Therefore many riders needed all the time to set up the bikes. Salom found his quickly and set the fastest time with almost eight minutes to go in the session. It was already past the official time slot when Folger and Miguel Oliveira came under Saloms lap time.

Luis Salom (3rd): “I was a little disappointed because I really wanted this pole position. But in the end I cannot be unhappy with a front row start. I have a good feeling with the bike in the dry as well as the wet. I am confident I can fight for victory again tomorrow.”

Team manager Johan Stigefelt: “Overall I am pretty satisfied with this qualification. Both Brad and Luis are pleased with the set up of their bikes in wet as well as dry circumstances. Let’s hope it will be dry for the race. We’ll go for it anyway.”
