Espargaro again fastest after second preseason test, Rabat and Pons happy with progress
The overall balance of the three days of testing has been very positive, with Pol Espargaro once again leaving the rest of the field behind him and posting a faster laptime than the pole position time from 2012.
Tito Rabat and Axel Pons are also on a good way and finished the test in sixth and 13th position, respectively.
1. POL ESPARGARO, 1.42.332 “I’m happy with how the second preseason test of 2013 has gone, continuing where we left off in Valencia and looking forward to the start of the season with optimism. At Jerez I could improve significantly in the wet, at the end of the first day I was among the fastest and I hope that this bike setting will help us at the tracks when it rains. Little by little I’m getting my rhythm and it’s a joy to see how quicky we are improving on the laptimes from the previous year. Now we’re going to continue with the physical preparation and work towards the best level for the third and final test before Qatar.”
6. TITO RABAT, 1.43.407 “I’m satisfied with the great work the team has done and which will certainly help me to be very competitive from the first Grand Prix of the season. Yesterday I had a small crash, but I’m calm because looking for the limits of myself and the bike is part of the preseason. I think were are progressing in a good way and that this will translate into good results with the start at Qatar.”
13. AXEL PONS, 1.43.882 “We didn’t have much luck with the weather, with rain on two of three days, although this also allowed us to work on the bike with different configurations and every bit of information counts during the year. On the second day with a dry track we took the opportunity to do a lot of laps and get a good rhythm, always staying around the top three. The third IRTA test within a month will be interesting, to see if we can still get a little closer to the front.”
